The Dauphin Clippers varsity girls 7's rugby team has done it.

For the first time ever, the team has won a provincial championship at the 7's level. They did so by winning both of their games at the provincials on Friday.

In their first game against Steinbach, Dauphin led from start to finish as they won 49-5. Then in the finals against Crocus Plains, a team Dauphin has beaten in the past, the Clippers came out and once again performed well in downing the Plainsmen, 28-20.

Their provincial banner is the team's seccond they won this week as they recently also won the Westman High School Rugby League crown. They won 10 of their 12 games.

"It feels absolutely amazing," said Shawn Sarkonak. "The girls worked really hard and the game went right down to the wire, I'm so proud of them."
