The Dauphin Kings dropped a decision in The Pas at the Roy H. Johnston Arena to the OCN Blizzard Sunday. The Blizzard defeated the Kings 3-1 on #SaveOurBlizz weekend, spoiling Duncan McGovern's Kings debut.
The Blizzard put up two goals in the first period at 6:25 when Shane Roulette scored the game's first marker, and at 16:56 courtesy of Brady Valiquette. That would be the last scoring for awhile.
No more scoring occurred until 18:19 in the third when Justin Nachbaur scored an empty net marker for OCN.
The Kings weren't done yet though, Keaton Leininger spoiled Brett Epp's otherwise perfect night between the Blizzard pipes with 31 seconds on the clock. Graeme Hore and Riley Shamray added assists.
The Kings now look ahead to a busy weekend when they're in Neepawa, Steinbach, and Portage, their only 3-in-3 of the season.

The Parkland Rangers were 0-2 over the weekend after 5-2 and 8-2 losses to the Winnipeg Wild and the Pembina Valley Hawks, respectively.
On Saturday the Rangers saw scoring from Andrew Liwiski and Bradyn Smelski. Dauphin Kings prospect Mitchell Joss had two goals for the Wild.
Sunday, Swan River's Carter Cockburn opened the scoring for the Rangers. The Hawks wasted no time in responding, evening the score just 31 seconds later when Everett Bestland scored his first of three goals in the game.
Vincent Hughes had the Rangers second tally.
The Hawks used a four goal third period to separate themselves from the Rangers, taking the win.

The Dauphin Kings earned a crucial victory over the Swan Valley Stampeders Saturday night at Credit Union Place.
Heading into the game the Kings were 6 points behind the Stampeders in the MJHL standings. It was the last meeting of the season between the two clubs, the Kings with the chance to gain some ground.
The Kings relied on the heroics of Brandon Holtby, who stopped all 30 shots sent his way, earning the shutout.
The win was the Kings third in the last four games, and their 10th of the season.
Keaton Leininger and Daniel Chartrand scored in the win.
The season series with the Stampeders is now done, each team was 3-3, the home team always coming out on top.
The Kings are now four points out of a playoff spot when they head north to play OCN Sunday. That game will be played in The Pas in the Roy H Johnston Arena.

A Parkland hockey player is representing Canada at the 2017 Nations Cup in Austria and Germany.
Brigette Lacquette of Mallard, MB, which is north of Waterhen, and Team Canada's women's team is 2-0 at the tournament and plays Germany Friday afternoon to end the round robin.
Lacquette is a member of the Calgary Inferno of the Canadian Women's Hockey League when not representing Canada.

Four Parkland rinks competed at the Canola Junior Curling Men's and Women's Provincial Championships over the past week.
Skip Emma Jensen and her Dauphin team finished fourth in the Asham Express Red Group with a 3-and-4 record. In the Asham Black Group Shaelynn Lukey and her Swan River team finished 7th, and Stacy Sime's Dauphin rink finished 8th.
Emma Jensen's father, Alan, was given the women's team Coach Award for excellence in coaching and dedication to team succes on and off the ice.
I'n men's play skip Brock Stephen and his Swan River team finished 7th.
