It`s been a long time since people have been able to say the Neepawa Natives are in the Playoffs.
But this year, that is the case, as they get set to play the Steinbach Pistons in the first round of the MJHL playoffs tonight.

General Manager Myles Cathcart talks about the feeling of finally getting into the playoffs.

"It's been a long haul, we're just happy to be here and happy to get the opportunity to continue on after the regular seasons over with. I think the community is pretty excited and we're just staying focused and kind of an even keel, we know we have a big task ahead of us, but it is a positive situation."

This is the team`s first trip to the Playoffs in 7 seasons, making this an important time for the club.

According Cathcart, the fans have taken notice.

"There's people coming to the rink that we haven't seen at a game in a while. It definitely is a positive for us, every other year you try and make the playoffs. That is your ultimate goal, it's just taken us time to basically rebuild everything: we had to start over. I think we're now at the point where it's really positive around the community."

The Natives will also host a home game on Sunday.
