If you are between the grades of nine and 12 and want to play competitive volleyball this winter, today is your last chance to try out for the Junior Varsity Boys and Varsity Boys volleyball team.

The tryouts will take place tonight from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the DRSCC lower gym.

"We're calling this the last chance try out," said Taylor Schmidt, Head Coach of the JV and Varsity boys teams. "We held some try outs last June, and now players from grade nine to 12 have one more chance today to try out because the season kicks off so quickly here."

Although Schmidt doesn't know the full roster, he has high expectations for the teams this year.

"Based on the try outs back in June, both teams have a lot of athletes on them," said Schmidt. "We're going to be able to compete at the AAA level, maybe not off the hop, but as we learn, we will get better and better, and compete."

After the final try outs today, the Varsity team will first be in action on September 22 and 23 when they take part in the Brandon University Tournament. The Junior Varsity Boys will be in action one week later in Portage at their tournament.

"We hit the ground running here because we'll only have about four or five practices before the tournaments."

Your first chance to see boys volleyball is on October 6 and 7 when the Varsity Boys host their home tournament at the DRCSS.
