Many local sport, health and art organizations were at the Dauphin Rec, Health & Leisure Mart last night for parents to sign their children up for extracurricular activities.

The Dauphin Swim Ability chapter was one of the organizations displayed looking for volunteers and children to take part in their program.

Kelsy Black, Dauphin Swim Ability Coordinator, explains what the program is about.

“Manitoba Swim Ability is a swimming program that provides one on one swimming instruction to children with special needs,” explained Black.  “So we were lucky enough to start the program in Dauphin and have a chapter here that’s been running here for two years now.”

The Dauphin Friendship Centre has several different after school musical programs for kids to participate in.

Carrie Lang, Youth Program Coordinator for the Dauphin Friendship Centre, talks about some of the after school programs they offer.

“You can sign up for our after school program which runs Monday to Friday from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.,” noted Lang.  “We also have guitar lessons; voice lessons; two square dance groups, a beginner and a junior group; and vocal lessons.  So we have all those things for kids to do and we are promoting those educational and musical programs.”

The mass registration night is on from 6 to 8 tonight at the Parkland Rec Complex in the curling rink.
