The Bank of Canada raised its benchmark interest rate by a quarter of a point to one per cent this morning.

This change will impact lending rates consumers and those who save get from the banks on their mortgages, lines of credits, savings accounts among other things.

This is the second time this year that the central bank has raised the benchmark interest rate.
