As part of the restructuring of the health care system, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority announced they are planning $19.9 million dollars in renovations to help with the consolidation of services.

Hospitals in Winnipeg are slated to begin renovations over the next 27 months with completion to be in Spring of 2019.

The renovations will deal with the city's closure of three emergency departments and replacing two of them as urgent care centres.

Along with the restructuring, patients with similar care needs will be grouped together in locations where specialized equipment and proper staffing is in place.
