Hail damage in Manitoba is as worse as it has been in recent memory.

The Maniotba Agricultural Services Corporation had to pay out a record 44 million dollars in 2016 for hail damage claims.

Doug Wilcox, Manager of Research Administration for MASC has some advice for farmers.

"Hail is occurring earlier than it normally has, so in the first part of June you are getting more losses than we did previously in our long term average."

Wilcox said there is no stopping the hail from damaging crops, and what farmers should do is purchase crop insurance to save themselves financially.
