Running all week firefighters across the province will be instructing Manitobans of all ages about the importance of fire safety.

Although Fire Prevention week technically started this past Sunday, the official kick-off was earlier this morning with a local Dauphin Firefighter in attendance.

Dauphin Fire Chief and President of the Manitoba Association of Fire Chiefs (MAFC), Cam Abrey says it was a privilege to be in attendance.

"This morning I was privileged to attend the official kick off for Fire Prevention Week at Shaughnessy Park School, they were selected as the host school for Fire Prevention Week because of the important initiatives they've been working on over the past year with Winnipeg Fire Department on fire safety."

Fire Prevention Week 2016 officially concludes this Saturday.
