A man has been charged in connection to yesterday's shooting near Portage.
After receiving reports of an erratic driver late yesterday morning, Portage RCMP engaged in a high-speed chase with 30 year old Carl Devin Beaulieu from Winnipeg.
RCMP say after Beaulieu stopped, he pointed a firearm at an officer. The officer then shot Beaulieu, who received non-life threatening injuries.
A total of 10 charges have been laid against Beaulieu, including careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and four counts of mischief.
Beaulieu is in custody, and is to appear in Provincial Court in Portage la Prairie on Tuesday, May 24 at 10:00 am.
