Twenty-eight people were arrested by a team of Manitoba police officers as part of a three-day targeted operation last week.
Last Monday to Wednesday, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offenders Apprehension Unit made the arrests in Dauphin, Grandview, Winnipegosis, Sandy Bay First Nation and Ebb and Flow First Nation.
The operation was designed to locate and arrest offenders — in some cases dangerous and prolific offenders wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
The MIVOAU team, with the assistance of several RCMP units, knocked on 143 doors, arrested 28 offenders, and seized three firearms and an ounce of cocaine in the operation.
The most significant incident occurred in Grandview on Oct. 21. At about 5:30 p.m., officers attended a residence while searching for a wanted individual. With the homeowner’s consent, police searched the property and located a firearm in plain view.
Six people inside the residence were arrested, including one person who was the subject of a warrant. Officers also seized a small quantity of cocaine during the search.
