In a Facebook post, the Watson Art Centre announced they'll be sharing details of their updates Mission, Vision, and Values statements in the coming days.
Executive Director Ryan Sinclair said the Watson has been doing exceptionally well over the last years, and they've noticed that. They're making strides to improve the Watson Art Centre building itself, and to boost the level of programming.
The Watson's goals over the next while are simple: continue doing what they do well, and find ways to do it even better. Those plans will be coming sooner than you might expect.
"Over the last couple years, we've been really investing in the Watson Art Centre, investing in the facility itself with A/C upgrades, redoing the hardwood floors in the auditorium, and then also investing in the staff as well...we're really growing arts programming in Dauphin, and we've decided as a board that we're kind of moving into this next chapter where we're going to revamp our Mission, Vision, and Values, work on a new updated Strategic Plan which will be starting in November," said Sinclair.
One big part of the Watson's success in recent years is how interconnected they are with the community. Sinclair said after the pandemic, the return of their Concert Series, and how well it did, goes to show how much Dauphinites really care about the arts.
"Post-pandemic, there was a bit of a wall, and there wasn't a ton of arts programming happening, so when we brought back the concert series and workshops, people [were] very excited to have more offerings, more things to do in Dauphin...we want to continue to do that and give back to our community by offering as much high-quality concerts or workshops we can, at an affordable price for everyone, because we know it is tough right now in these economic times," said Sinclair.
More specifics about their visions for the future of the Watson Art Centre will be shared via Facebook in the next few days.
