Both the Midget AAA and Peewee AAA Parkland baseball teams continued their baseball action on Saturday in Winnipeg and Brandon.
Peewee AAA
The start of the day wasn't pretty, but the end was grand as the Parkland Peewee AAA baseball team have advanced to the Provincial Championships that will be played in Winnipeg from August 3-5.
In the team's first game of the day, Carillon scored early and often in beating Parkland 17-3.
Daenen Delaurie pitched 2.2 innings, striking out three batters. He gave up 11 runs, but just four of them were earned as the team struggled defensively, committing 12 errors. Liam Musgrave and Liam Packo both pitched in relief, going .2 and 1.1 innings respectively.
Despite their loss in the morning, a win in game two would clinch a spot in the Provincial Championships for Parkland, and after a slugfest, that spot was clinched.
Parkland scored 13 runs in the fifth inning, and Liam Musgrave who pitched in game one, went 3-4 at the plate, all being singles, a walk and drove in five batters. Brooke White also chipped in three hits and three RBI.
With the 19-11 win over Interlake, the team finished second in their pool.
The team will take on Midwest on Sunday afternoon at 12:00. Midwest cruised through the round robin going 3-0, scoring 25 runs and giving up just four.
Midget AAA
Three hours after the scheduled first pitch, Parkland took to the field against Carillon after a rain delay, and seven innings later Parkland's season came to an end after a 4-2 loss.
The team jumped out to a 2-0 lead early but failed at driving runners in at critical times in the loss.
Will Hlady was charged with the loss.
