Piet Mierau made quite the impression in his first two games with the Parkland U18 Rangers.
After being released by the Pembina Valley Hawks, Mierau went into Morden on Sunday and turned away 43 shots in the victory, his second of the season. On Saturday as Parkland opened its campaign with a 7-2 win against Central Plains, Piet made 18 saves.
Piet finished the weekend with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage and has been named this week's CCM Player of the Week. The Rangers will look to make it three straight on Saturday when the Eastman Selects come to town for the first of a back-to-back at Credit Union Place.
You can hear Saturday's game here on 730CKDM with Jeff Henson and Darnell Duff.
