Crystal Zamzow will look to get off to a great start on Saturday as she will enter the final round of the women's amateur championship right in it.

After shooting her second straight round of 74, the Swan River golfer finds herself five strokes back of Addison Kartusch for first place overall. Saturday will be the finale. 

On the men's side in the mid-amateur competion, it was a 14 stroke difference from day one to day two for Allan McDonald. After lighting up the course with a 10 under, 62 in round one, the Breezy Bend member struggled on Friday in shooting a four-over, 76. McDonald is now in a three-way tie for first place. Patrick Perrin, who won the event last year, is just two strokes behind heading into Saturday's final round.

The top eight golfers earn a national berth. Taylor Fletcher of McCreary enters round three four strokes behind achieving that. Derek Benson of McCreary was impressive on Friday with a two-under, 70, and he is now tied with Fletcher in 19th. Jay Thiesen of Russell is five strokes back of eighth place.

Men's

Taylor Fletcher (McCreary Golf & Country Club) made five birdies and shot an even par, 72. Finds himself in a tie for 15th. 
Round #2 - shot a three-over, 75.

Jay Thiesen (Russell Golf & Country Club) settled for just one birdie and ended up shooting a one-over, 73. Is in a tie for 20th.

Chad Facey (Gilbert Plains Country Club) managed three birdies and shot a four-over, 76. Is in a tie for 34th.

Shawn McQuarrie (Gilbert Plains Golf & Country Club) started with a birdie on the first hole and ended up shooting an 11 over, 83.
Round #2 - shot a 19-over, 91. 
Round #3

Keith Fawcett (Clear Lake Golf Course) did not drain any birdies and shot a 12 over, 84. Is in a tie for 66th.
Round #2 - shot a seven-over, 79. An improvement of five strokes from round one. 
Round #3

Teddy Wojtowicz (Dauphin Lake Golf Club) had back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16 and finished with an eight-over, 80. Is in a tie for 57th.
Round #2 - shot a 18-over, 90

Derek Benson (McCreary Golf & Country Club) a roller coaster round included five birdies. Shot a five-over, 77. Is in a tie for 42nd. 
Round #2 - shot a two-under, 70 
Round #3

Earl Thompson (Dauphin Lake Golf Club) had three birdies, including back-to-back on 12 and 13 and finished with a 9 over, 81. Is in a tie for 60th.
Round #2 - shot a 10-over, 82. Moved up four spots to a tie for 56th.

Women's

Clara Peake (Minnedosa Golf & Country Club) had two birdies and two bogies, also sits in a tie for second, just two strokes back of the lead. 
Round #2 - shot a 10-over, 82. Dropped three spots into fifth place solo.

Crystal Zamzow (Swan River Golf & Country Club) had one birdie and three bogies to sit in a tie for second.
Round #2 - shot her second straight 74 and is five strokes back of the leader heading into Saturday.

However the rest of the three days turn out, Allan McDonald of the Breezy Bend Country Club has entered the history books at the Minnedosa Golf & Country Club.

As Golf Manitoba's Mid-Amateur Championships opened on Thursday morning, McDonald came out of the gate firing with five birdies in his first nine holes. He then posted another six birdies in his first eight holes on the back and despite a bogey on the challenging 18th, McDonald finished with a 10-under, 62. McDonald now holds the course record, the previous record was 65.
