Allan McDonald made five birdies and just one bogey in the final round to shoot a 68 as he won Golf Manitoba's Mid Amateur Championships by two strokes over Drew Jones. He shot a 62 on Thursday.
Jay Thiesen of Russell jumped up 18 spots to finish in a tie for ninth with a final score of two-over. Taylor Fletcher of McCreary finished in 22nd place with a final score of seven-over. Derek Benson; meanwhile, also of McCreary finished just behind in 23rd place. Chad Facey finished with a three-round score of 11-over to finish in a tie for 36th.
Earl Thompson saved his best for last. The Dauphin Lake Golf Club member shot a 76 in the final round to finish in 50th place. Keith Fawcett of Clear Lake finished in a tie for 55th, Teddy Wojtowicz ended in 63rd while Shawn McQuarrie finished in 65th.
Competing in the women's amateur, also in Minnedosa, Crystal Zamzow of Swan River finished with a provincial bronze medal. She finished the tournament at 12-over.
