McCreary's Christmas Parade of Lights is set to take place this Friday night.
Recreation Director Nancy Buchanan says the event returns this year after they took a few years off.
"It starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 8th at the McCreary arena and will go past Alpine Manor and the care home before returning to the arena. Following that we will have pictures with Santa, free public skating, hot chocolate, and treat bags."
Buchanan adds there is a lot of excitement in the community over the return of this event.
"They are excited to have it back. It has been a few years, and it looks like the weather is going to co-operate and it is going to be a really nice evening."
Businesses and groups interested in putting in a float for this parade can contact the recreation office or just show up before 5:30 on Friday night.

The community of Ochre River is looking into some means to make it's streets a little safer.
CAO of the RM of Lakeshore Micahel Besser has been concerned about the amount of crime and vandalism that takes place in the community, and is considering the assembly of a Citizens On Patrol Program.
The Citizens on Patrol Program is a crime prevention initiative where volunteers act as extra eyes and ears for their community and local law enforcement, and Besser thinks it's what the community could need.
"I've heard a lot of concerns, and it's been several vehicles over a couple of weeks that have been either stolen or destroyed. Everybody works hard for what they earn out here, and we don't want to see people's hard work going down the tubes just because somebody feels like they want to take something on a joy ride."
Besser also made two facts abundantly clear;
One, this is not a vigilante program, so no pitchforks and torches are involved. And Two, this is still in the planning phase, and nothing is solid just yet.
If you want to learn more, or voice your opinion about this project, you can contact the RM of Lakeshore at 204 133 2423 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

As the city and surrounding municipality continues to grow, so does the need for more updated fire fighting equipment.
With that in mind, Dauphin Fire Chief Cam Abrey says they have started the process of purchasing a new pumper truck for the department.
"What we are buying is referred to as a top mount enclosed pumper, so it has enclosed seating for all of the firefighters, and will carry 1,000 gallons of water as well as a sufficient pump on it."
Abrey says it will be approximately 2 years before the truck arrives in the city.
"This is not something that you can just go to a dealership and pick out a truck on the lot. These manufacturers design a truck around your needs. So they consider the size of our municipality, the types of fires that we go to, the types of motor vehicle incidents that we go to, they also look at the water storage on the truck, the size of the pump, how many personnel can the truck carry and what other equipment it may need."
Fort Garry Fire Trucks will custom make the truck at a cost of just over $830,000, including GST.
That was the lowest of three tenders received, and Abrey says the price to have one of these pumper trucks built has gone up significantly in recent years.
"The last pumper that we purchased was in 2012 and that truck had a purchase price of approximately $380,000. So in a twelve year period, you can see that the price of a truck has more than doubled."
Once it arrives, Abrey feels the truck will be able to service the needs of Dauphin and the surroundng municipality for the next 20-25 years.
