Nineteen family physicians have or will soon be starting work in communities across the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority, Health, Seniors and Active Living Minister Kelvin Goertzen announced today.

On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at approximately 8:25 am, Norway House RCMP responded to a trailer fire at a residence located on Mission Island Drive in the community of Norway House.

Upon arrival, the residence was found to be completely engulfed in flames. Officers were advised that one of the four occupants may still be inside.

Once the fire was brought under control and extinguished, firefighters entered the residence and located the remains of a person. One male occupant suffered severe injuries and is in critical condition. The other two males suffered minor injuries.

Norway House RCMP along with the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.

Court documents indicate that over the last 16 years, three women tried and failed to get protection orders against a member of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service who is now facing sex charges.

In all three cases, a judge dismissed the application, though no reason was given.

Manuel Vladimir Ruiz, who is 52, is now accused of sexually assaulting a female youth and a woman, and with obtaining the sexual services of a person under the age of 18.

Police say Ruiz is also facing charges of sexual interference, forcible confinement and luring a child
