The traditional August long weekend Grandview Mud Bog has been cancelled due to health restrictions in the province this year.
Grandview Rec Director Jill Wiebe commented on the cancellation:
“We usually do have a big crowd attend the Mud Bog. But since we have large numbers, we can't have it in the capacity that we wish, so we are going to postpone it and make it bigger and better for next year.”
In the meantime, the Grandview Kinsmen have plans to upgrade Wilson Park, where the Mud Bog is held each year.
The major upgrade of note is to build a permanent stage to host concerts and other such events at Wilson Park.
The stage is set to be constructed this summer and ready for the 2022 Grandview Mud Bog.

Mounties are searching a rural property in southern Manitoba for a homicide suspect they say is armed and dangerous and may have clothing and gear resembling that used by police.
RCMP says officers are scouring a property in the Rural Municipality of St. Clements, northeast of Winnipeg.
That's the last place Clifford Joseph was seen when he left his home there on June 7.
Police say the 40-year-old's disappearance is being investigated as a homicide and a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 34-year-old Eric Wildman.
Mounties warn that officers found police tactical equipment, patches and other items resembling officer uniforms when they searched his truck on Sunday.
They also found a significant number of firearms in the truck.

Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School is displaying a new sign by its front doors.
The sign reads: ‘EVERY CHILD MATTERS’ and has the number 215 in the middle to commemorate the 215 children found in the mass grave at the Kamloops residential school.
It was created by welding instructor, Jason Rudkavich, and Educational Assistant, Wendy Wellborn.
Jason says that he wanted to do something as soon as he heard about the Kamloops tragedy, but wasn’t sure what to do at first.
He ended up designing the sign, and he and Wendy painted it. Collision Repair Teacher, Bryan Hannibal clear-coated it so that it can be displayed outside for all to see.
Wendy says the tragedy is history, and that our history shouldn’t be erased, good or bad, because you learn from it.

Grade 12 student, Morgan Sametz is this year’s winner of Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School’s Car Giveaway.
Morgan says she wasn’t expecting to win.
“On the way here I was thinking is this about my credits, did I win a scholarship or something like that. I kind of had an idea that it was about the car, but I wasn’t expecting it.”
Something unique about the car she won is that it’s a right-hand driving vehicle.
“I don’t fully have my license yet so driving, in general, is a little intimidating, so getting used to the right-hand drive will be a little different, but I think I’ll get used to it pretty fast.”
Patty Goodine, who’s a teacher at the high school, says they started doing this car giveaway six years ago, and initially it was to boost attendance.
“We had this car last year, but we couldn’t give it away because we started out with the attendance incentive but COVID sent us home. So we brainstormed and decided that we just wanted students to say why they deserved the car.”
The cars that the school gets every year are donated by the community. This year's car was donated by Laura Meads and Dale Guttman, and this is their second time donating.

Police searched Wildman's vehicle this past weekend and during the search, they found police tactical equipment, police patches, and other items resembling police clothing.
The RCMP believes he may have further access to firearms and police items. On top of those charges, Wildman is also considered a suspect in the homicide of Clifford Joseph, a 40-year-old man that was last seen on June 7 leaving his home in the RM of St. Clements.
Wildman is considered armed and dangerous. He's described as six feet, two inches and 170 pounds, with blue eyes.
