A Roblin parent is worried about the safety of her children getting to school.

Mary Newton’s two sons, ages 5 and 7, have been denied bus transportation by Mountain View School Division, because their family residence lies with in the 1.6 km boundary.

She explains the actions she has taken so far on the matter,

“It started with my request for bus pickup for my two sons, they are 5 and 7, across Queen Street which is a provincial truck highway coming right through Roblin,” noted Mary.  “It got denied so I went to the Secretary Treasurer and got denied and then to the Superintendent and got denied.  I don’t think it is safe for them to cross so I started a petition because I am doing an appeal to the Board of Trustees on the 23rd to make them overturn that decision because it is not safe.”

The petition can be signed at www.change.org and search for the petition called, Help Change Student Transportation Policies So Rural MB Children Can Get To School Safely.

The petition is being presented to the school board on Monday.
