This week is Farm and Food Awareness Week across the Parkland and the province.
It began with families heading to different farms, with many in the Parkland for Open Farm Day. Having this kind of week is important for everyone to connect with their food according to Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler.
“The great big thing we want to have taken home from this is the connection between urban and rural to find out for sure that you have the safest food that you can provide for your family."
In the province 32 thousand jobs are in the agriculture and agri-food industries. Agriculture contributes approximately $3.6 billion to the provincial economy.
