A research group focusing on native pollinators are looking for cooperators in Manitoba.
The research initiative spearheaded by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada involves putting insect traps on the field margins, from April to September then within the field during flowering.
According to Melanie Dubois, Senior Riparian and Biodiversity Biologist with Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, there is a specific plan set in place for the study.
"The parts that I'm specifically looking at is developing and improving upon a landscape scale pollinator habitat assessment methodology."
There are 231 species of bees native to the province of Manitoba.
