Winnipegosis is one of the 12 Manitoba communities faced with the closure of their Manitoba Hydro office as of May 19th.
The announcement came just this week from Manitoba Hydro, and the crown corporation feels the closure of these offices, along with job cuts and voluntary buyouts will save millions.
Winnipegosis Head of Council, Kate Basford, knows the closure of their Manitoba Hydro office will not only affect their community, but neighbouring ones as well.
"I think it's going to impact us in various ways. We're a small community, it's not just Winnipegosis making use of this office, everybody from the North, Camperville and beyond, it means that those people are not stopping in Winnipegosis anymore."
Along with Winnipegosis, Manitoba Hydro is closing offices in Grandview, Ste. Rose, and McCreary in the Parkland alone
