Students at Winnipegosis Elementary School will benefit from a $20,000 dollar grant from musicounts.
The grant will go towards the purchase of musical instruments to further develop the band program at the school.
Principal Dawn Dutchak says the amount of money the school will receive is quite a surprise.
"If we were going to get accepted we were thinking maybe 1,000 or 2,000 dollars but to get this windfall of cash, it just creates a lot of opportunities for our students."
Musicounts is an organization committed to allowing kids to try and pursue music in the classroom, and since their inception in 1997, have given funding to 83 different communities.
