The Town of Swan River has declared a "Local State of Emergency" in response to rising water levels.

 

Last night at 9:30 pm, the town issued the response after rising water levels caused by an ice jam on the Swan River posed a threat to low lying areas in the the town.

The town says that area residents have been sandbagging in the threatened areas with the assistance of community members and the Swan River Fire Department.

It is advised as a cautionary measure non-essential personnel are asked to avoid the threatened areas.
