The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is retaining its agricultural roots.

Today marks the second day of the 110th installment of the annual winter fair with a number of activities throughout the week tailored to agricultural education.

For Trade Show and Program Coordinator at the Provincial Ex Jennifer Skiehar, it's important that kids at a young age see first hand how the farm operates.

"From us doing it at winter fair through to summer fair and even AG Ex, the way we promote the AG education throughout all of our three events you do see it [...] you see the kids when they come and see the cows actually being milked their like 'Oh? That's kind of cool,' and so that we have set milking times when they can see the milk being milked and so when they come here they can learn that difference."

The week's cattle shows at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair will feature 55 youth and 95 head of cattle.
