As snow begins to melt in the Parkland, the issue of drainage is beginning to take precedence.

With the amount of snow that has hit the Parkland this winter, city streets are filling up with water that has been drained.

Director of Public Works for the City of Dauphin Bill Brenner says addressing this problem is more of a waiting game.

"We have two crews out steaming catch basins to try and keep the water flowing on the streets, unfortunately it's just that time of year where it gets cold enough at night that if there isn't flow in there once they drain then they freeze up again overnight and then there blocked the following morning when it starts to melt again."

Brenner hopes temperatures stay above freezing so crews will have an easier time in managing water levels.

Environment Canada currently indicates temperatures above zero as a high  for the remainder of the week in the Parkland.
