Things are going to get a bit worse before they get better.

Dauphin's new emergency room has been given a greenlight, but during construction, a temporary ER will be in place.

Curt Gullett says the temporary ER will be where there administration offices are now.

"It does displace some staff. Some of our admin staff will be displaced. We're looking for alternate spots for them right now, and I think we've secured within our building some spots."

The province says phase one of the project is erecting the temporary ER. Phase two will be the renovation and expansion of the original ER site.

Gullett says a lot of the background work has been done over the past few years. An organizational meeting was held yesterday.
