It'll be at least a year before transit can get started.

Jeff Garnet says the Dauphin Transit Authority has had further discussions with the city since making a presentation at the August 15 council meeting.

"They gave their position and the direction that we should be taking. One of the things that came up was in order to get on city budget and provincial budget they need a feasibility study done, so that's what we're going to be working towards."

Garnet says they haven't spoken with the province yet.

He predicts the operating cost for bus service will be about $330,000, and he wants that split between the province, the city, and the Dauphin Transit Authority.

Dauphin Transit Authority is currently trying to raise $140,000 "for the purchase of two buses and three months operating costs." The group is holding a fundraising barbeque on Monday, August 29 at CN Park from 11am-3pm.
