It's officially berry picking season in Manitoba, and in the Parkland you can find more than one berry picking patch.
Just north of Asheville you can find six acres of Saskatoon berries to pick.

Co-owner of Saskatoon Place, Wayne Brezden, says this year's season has been a good one.

"We have four different varieties of Saskatoon berries. We have a few thiessen, there is not that many but, we have honeywood, smoky and north wine. We've had one of the best berry sets in a long long time."

And in McCreary you can find two acres of strawberries to go pick.

Owner of Roncin Berry Farm south of McCreary, Richard Roncin, has had a great year with their June Bearing strawberries as they got to start picking three weeks early, which isn't normal.

"We love people. Seeing the folks come back here year to year, and although it's hard to remember to put names to faces it's just great to see the people come back. And if they are having a good year they certainly let us know. So, there is a lot of satisfaction in that." says Roncin.

Dauphin's Scenic Ridge Berry Farm got to start their picking early this year as well.

"I believe it was the 24th of June and generally we don't get started until approximately the 10th of July." says Leanne Williamson, who is co-owner of Scenic Ridge Berry Farm.

With the rain being an issue, you can still go and pick berries at these farms.
