Manitoba Hydro has revealed plans to temporarily lay off 600 to 700 workers, which could happen as early as this week.
The provincial government has mandated the public sector find ways to save money during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The temporary layoffs at Manitoba Hydro are set to last for four moths — spokesperson Bruce Owen says the move would save Manitoba Hydro about $11 Million.
An email from the union representing almost 2,300 Hydro workers suggests that mainly junior-level employees will be impacted by the decision.
