There are a number of exciting opportunities soon approaching for Parkland rugby players.

If you're a student at DRCSS who enjoyed Canada's rugby 7's performance at the olypmics and thought it's something you might want to try yourself, then you're in luck.

The Dauphin Clippers Girls Rugby 7s season starts tomorrow. Practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30.

Jamborees are set for September 11th in Brandon, September 25th in Souris, with Dauphin to host their own on October 3rd.

Rugby Manitoba will start an annual Regional 7s competition for U13, U15 and U17 categories. The creation of these Rugby 7s age groups comes from a need to develop Rugby 7s programs in Manitoba.

Rugby 7s are set to return to the Canada Games, the Western Canada Games, and possibly the Manitoba Summer Games. These age categories were established for development purposes: the U13s will be U18s by the time the 2021 Canada Games arrive.

The Regional Competition will model the Manitoba Games and their respective Sport Manitoba Regions. The Regions have expanded which means Westman now stretches from the US Border to North of Swan River. That's exciting for all our High School and Youth programs. The regions are as follows: North, Winnipeg 1, Winnipeg 2, West, East, and South.

The competition will take place Thanksgiving weekend in Brandon. The proposed dates are Saturday, October 8 and Sunday October 9th. Male and Female teams in each age category from each region will compete for their respective championship.

Players for the U17 and U15 girls categories will be evaluated during the High School 7s and the U13s will be evaluated during the Youth Jamborees. The boys will be evaluated through the Youth Rugby U13 and invited for the U15 and U17 categories for training.
