Back in 2014, Endow Manitoba launched Giving Challenge week as a way for Manitoba's 50+ Community Foundations grow their unrestricted funds.
That fund is used to fund projects within their communities.
Residents are encouraged to donate to their local Community Foundation next week, with the money going to the unrestricted fund.
DDCF Executive Director Kit Daley says donations received next week are further stretched by the Winnipeg Foundation and the province.
"A $5 donation is stretched by the Winnipeg Foundation, who contributes $1, and by the Manitoba Government, who contributes $1. So a $5 becomes $7, and a $100 donation becomes $140. And that is on the first $10,000."
Over the past seven years, the DDCF has been in the top 3 as far as amount of gifts received during the challenge.
And Daley hopes local residents will give with their heart again this year.
"No donation is too small. Every donation counts, and that donation will give back to the community forever."
You can donate in person at the DDCF office in City Hall between 10 and 4, or online through their website at ddcf.ca.
You can also donate over the phone with a credit card, or by mailing a cheque to their office.
