Dauphin RCMP have given more details about the heavy police presence in the City's north end on Wednesday.

RCMP say they received a report of multiple shots being fired on Brown Avenue East around 5:40 AM Wednesday, and responded to the reported residence, which is known to have residents tied to local organized crime. Dauphin RCMP were assisted by Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services, and Manitoba West District General Investigation Section officers.

After finding evidence that a vehicle parked near the home had been shot at, RCMP cordoned off the area, and asked the public to stay clear. After initially being uncooperative, three individuals in the home's garage were safely taken into custody, while others inside the home refused.

RCMP called in a crisis negotiator, and around 8:30 AM, six more people came out of the home, and were taken into custody. RCMP obtained a search warrant for the home, and found a modified pellet gun. One individual was arrested and remanded into custody, on charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with release order conditions.

Others that were taken into custody were released without charges. The investigation is ongoing.
