The City of Dauphin's South End Destination Site Survey is designed to give residents the opportunity to tell the City what they think Amisk the Beaver's corner of town should look like.

Dauphin's Economic Development Manager, Martijn van Luijn, said updating the site has been a priority for a while, and this survey will help that progress.

"We always had the desire to do something with it. At the same time, we know by visitors that come to our community, more and more people want to stop at that area...pull over, park for a few minutes, get out of the car, walk around, take some photos in front of Amisk the Beaver, and have it a little bit of a tourism destination," said van Luijn.

This survey follows a Request for Proposals opened by the City earlier in the year to find a contractor to help develop the site. Now that contractor has been selected, and the project is almost ready to move into the next steps. But first, van Luijn said it's essential to get as much community feedback as they can, to make sure the space can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

"We would love to hear from the community if they have any ideas what we could do with this, and how they envision this space, not only for tourists and visitors, but also for locals that live around there, that maybe want to spend some time there...they also have an opportunity to let us know what their concerns are, which is also very important, it has to be a safe space, it is along a major corridor, major route, and we really gotta make sure that it's a safe area," said van Luijn.
