Two Dauphin Kings are heading to Saskatchewan.
The Manitoba Junior Hockey League announced its roster for the Western All-Star Challenge on Monday and the Kings will be well represented. Dauphin's own Quinten Fisk and standout rookie goaltender Tate Barnaby made the team.
Quinten Fisk:
In his second year with his hometown team, Quinten has been excellent.
In 15 games, he leads the team with 10 goals. He has 14 points. In 48 games last year, he had 19 points. Well on his way to a career year, Fisk is a game changer. He has two game-winning goals.
He's also a power play specialist. He has five goals on the man advantage. Only Bennett Muller has more on the team.
Quinten has goals in back-to-back games. He also has two multi-goal games. He scored twice on October 4 against Portage and again on October 10 against Steinbach.
Tate Barnaby:
What the recently turned 17-year-old has done to start his junior hockey career has been nothing short of incredible.
He made his MJHL regular-season debut on September 25. He made 23 saves on 25 shots. Five days later, he went 19-for-19 in relief of Bryson Yaschyshyn.
Then on October 2, Tate recorded his first shutout. He made 21 saves against the Winnipeg Blues. Two days later, he was at it again. Tate went 19-for-19 for his second straight shutout.
Barnaby made another 33 saves in a marquee win against Steinbach. He went 13-for-13 in relief against the Monarchs last Friday.
Through the first eight games of his junior career, Tate is 3-2. He has a sparkling .936 save percentage. That's the best in the league by eight percentage points. Joe Naccarato of Swan Valley has a .928 save percentage. Barnaby has a 2.00 goals-against average.
That's the third-best.
"Yeah, it's an honour. There are so many great players participating," said Barnaby. "I have a great team in front of me. Most of my success comes from them. It's an honour to represent the Dauphin Kings. I'm super happy for Quinten. It's going to be great going up there with him. I'm proud to represent Dauphin and the community. I want to thank my team for getting me to this point."
Western All-Star Challenge:
