Mel Wyshynski has been a member of Rotary since 1988, first joining the international group while living in Thompson, before joining the Dauphin Rotary clun in 2001.
In his time in Rotary, he has seen significant changes to the organization.
Among the biggest was allowing women to join Rotary in the late 1980's, after over 80 years of being a men's only club.
He adds that move has definitely had a positive influence on the Dauphin club.
"Since then, we have had women in Rotary. Right now, over 40 per cent of our club is made up of women. And over the last five years, a women has been president of our club in three of those years. That's excellent!"
Wyshynski add the removal of the three and out rule, which saw a member removed from Rotary if they missed three straight meetings, has also been a positive, as it has led to increased membership world wide.
