The City of Dauphin has been without an Emergency Department since Canada Day.

The devastating flood shuttered the Dauphin Regional Health Centre. Since then, the Ste. Rose and Grandview Emergency Departments have been pulling double duty. In Ste. Rose, the Emergency Department is open 24/7. In Grandview, it's open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

In Dauphin, meanwhile, Wab Kinew made a big announcement on Monday.

"Shoutout to all the workers who have done an amazing job on all of the cleanup," said Kinew. "To all the healthcare staff, nurses, and doctors who have been good sports and are still working hard during this period. We've heard you loud and clear, Dauphin. You need these services close to home. You'll have an Emergency Department working by Labour Day."

In the meantime, a temporary shared health diagnostic patient service Centre has been set up in the Dauphin Provincial Building.

It's on Level 1, in Room 111, at 27 Second Avenue Southwest. It's open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can call 622-3582. The Centre offers walk-in X-ray, urine collection, blood tests, electrocardiogram (EKG) & Holter monitoring services.

CKDM NewsNow is set to talk to Kinew on Tuesday about the news and what the return will look like.

Stay tuned for more in the coming days.
