McCreary Alonsa Support Services for Seniors is hosting an Identity Theft and Fraud Prevention Workshop tomorrow, designed teach seniors how to stay safe.
"The session focuses on how seniors will be able to clearly identify what theft is, and what types of fraud schemes and scams that are going around that are most often related to seniors," said Megan Desjardins, Resource Coordinator for McCreary Alonsa Support Services for Seniors.
Desjardins mentioned the "grandfather/grandmother" scam, which involves the caller pretending to be the senior's grandchild, who is in need of money right away.
She said she hopes the workshop will help seniors recognize identity theft and fraud, and stay safe.
"With the knowledge that [seniors] are going to be gaining through this session tomorrow, that they will have the understand of what to watch for, what to look for," said Desjardins.
The workshop takes place at Alpine Manor in McCreary tomorrow at 1:00 PM, and is open to the public.
