The Parkland Source for Sports Novice Classic kicked off earlier today, and two Dauphin teams were in action.

The Dauphin Thunder lost their game, 8-0, while Dauphin Fire won, 7-1.

The Dauphin Kings will hook up with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for the fifth time this season tonight, and the two teams have had a battle of a series all season long.

Since beating the Wolverines, 4-2, way back in October, the Kings have beaten the Wolverines two more times, both in overtime on the road.

The Wolverines beat the Kings last time they played in Dauphin, 6-5, in which the Wolverines came back from a 5-3 deficit in the third.

The last time the Kings and Wolverines hooked up was last Friday when the Kings beat the Wolverines, 4-3, in overtime; a game in which they trailed three separate times.

Both teams come into tonight’s game riding a one-game losing streak, with Dauphin’s coming against Winnipeg, while Wayway lost to Virden earlier this week.

Brendan Arnold and Jaymes Knee have the hot sticks against the Wolverines, both putting up five points in three games against them, while Riley Vautour leads the way for Wayway, with his six points in four games, two of which were goals when the Wolverines beat Dauphin, in Dauphin, earlier this season.

Tonight’s game is the second of four-straight on home ice for the Kings before they welcome Selkirk tomorrow and Portage early next week.

Puck drop for tonight's game is set for 7:30.

After a loss this morning, the Dauphin Clippers rebounded in a big way, by beating John Taylor, 6-1.

Austin Storey and Brandon Racette both chipped in two goals for the Clippers, while Ty Hassel and Riley Hammond scored one apiece.

The Clippers will get the rest of the day off before the playoffs begin tomorrow.

Lois Rozak kicked off her Golden Gals Provincial Championship this morning with a win.

Norma Johnson, who also hit the ice in opening draw action, dropped her first game.

Dauphin's Dawn Steiner lost her first game of the Championships earlier this afternoon.

It's going to be all hockey, all weekend, at Credit Union Place, and the Rotary Arena, as the Parkland Source for Sports Novice Classic kicks-off later today.

Below you can view the schedule for both Credit Union Place and Rotary Arena.

The Grandview Comets will look to snap their longest regulation losing streak of the season tonight, when they head to Foxwarren, to take on the Falcons.

After kicking off the season with five straight wins, the Comets are 4-4-1, in their last nine games, but did beat Foxwarren the last time the two teams met, 6-1, earlier this year.

Tonight’s game also kicks off the first of back-to-back games for the team, as they’ll be on home-ice tomorrow, in the regular season finale against Rivers.

Puck drop tonight is set for 8:30, at the Foxwarren Arena.

The action all kicks-off this morning at the Dauphin Curling Club, as the Golden Gals Provincial Championships take centre stage.

The 9:00 am draw features two local teams, in Lois Rozak and her team, and Norma Johnson and her foursome.

At noon, Dawn Steiner and her foursome will play their first game.

Rob Fisher and his team got off to a red-hot start last night at the Viterra Championships but ended up falling, 9-7, which eliminated the team from the Championships.

The team scored three in the first but gave up four in the second and, despite regaining the lead, they couldn't hold it, as they dropped the game.

Thanks to a tremendous January, Dauphin's Connor Shaw was named the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League's Goaltender of the Month.

In the month of January, Shaw racked up six wins, his G.A.A was 1.28, and he had an incredible .958 save percentage.

"It means a lot to me," said Shaw. "I feel I've been pretty consistent this year. It was one of those stretches last month, the puck was bouncing my way, and it resulted in some wins. It's definitely a good feeling."

Overall in January, Shaw and the Transcona Railer Express went 7-0-1, which included wins over the league-best Raiders Jr. Hockey Club, and the current second-place Charleswood Hawks. Thanks to the strong month, the Express are now comfortably in third place, nine points ahead of fourth place, and are now just four points behind the Hawks for second, and 10 points behind the Raiders for first.

"Obviously it was great winning those games, but it was how we were winning," said Shaw. "We won blowouts, but we also won close games, where we got a lead and held it. We played a full 60-minutes every time out, and it showed."

Shaw and the rest of the Railer Express play 10 more games this season.

"For me, nothing's going to change," said Shaw. "The coaching staff and I already talked about how many minutes I'm going to play during the rest of the regular season, so I'm fresh for the playoffs. It's going to be a long six weeks, come playoffs, to win it all, so what we do as a team, and what I do as a goalie in the next little bit, is going to be pretty important to get our mindsets ready for the long stretch."

Shaw and the Railer Express return back to the ice tonight to take on St. Boniface.

To be a Championship team, a good goalie is always needed, and Bode Childs has been that, and much more, for the Dauphin Clippers hockey team this season.

Childs has compiled a 13-1-1 record, to go with a very good 2.89 G.A.A.

"It's been going good so far," said Childs. "We've been winning lots of games, so I can't complain."

For Childs, the season hasn't been perfect, however, as he has been on the sideline for the better part of two weeks with an injury.

"It's heartbreaking," said Childs. "You always want to be out there, and in the action."

The Clippers (19-1-0-1) play just three more regular season games, two of which are on the road.

"We just want to stay healthy, and get ready for what's coming our way in the playoffs," said Childs. "We want to keep getting better every day, and pick up three more regular season wins."

Bode will make a return back to the ice this weekend when the Clippers are in Winnipeg for the Piper Classic.

The next regular season action for the Clippers is Thursday, February 8, in Minnedosa.

You can see Bode and the Clippers next on home ice, in the team's regular-season finale, on March 13.

"Come out and support," said Childs. "When we get fans in the rink, we feel we always have to put a good show on for the fans."

Puck drop for that game, on the 13, is set for 8:30.

Dauphin's Rob Fisher and his curling team rebounded from an opening loss at the Viterra Championships, with a huge win in their second game, last night.

They scored five points in the seventh, and four more in the eighth, as they cruised to a 12-4 victory to stay alive at the Provincials.

The team plays their second game tonight, at 7:45.
