Over 250 hockey-playing alumni will return to Brandon University in a couple weeks to celebrate 93 years of hockey.

BU is welcoming back former Bobcats and College Caps players to partake in alumni weekend festivities November 4th and 5th.

Two alumni games are scheduled for the Saturday featuring many former Dauphin Kings and people who later settled in the Parkland after their BU playing days.

The first game starts at 1:00pm for alumni ages 50-and-over. A 49-and-under game will follow afterwards. Both games are free to attend.

We'll have more on the Bobcats Hockey alumni weekend on November 4th's Kings One Hour Power Play show. 

 

Grandview's Ryan Pulock is heading back to the show.

The New York Islanders have recalled Pulock from the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers on an emergency basis after Shane Prince was placed on emergency reserve.

Pulock finished last season with the Isles, recording 4 points in 15 games, and another three points in 6 playoff contests. He has one point through two games with Bridgeport to start this season. 

Pulock could suit up for the Isles tomorrow when they host the Coyotes.

 

The Dauphin Clippers football teams completed a regular season that would make Dan Marino and the Miami Dolphins proud.
 
The Clippers defeated the Southwest Sabres 50-33 in their regular season finale at DRCSS. Heading in to the game the Clippers had already clinched first.
 
Now that the regular season campaign is finished the Clippers can shift full focus to the playoffs.
 
They host a semi-final against Neepawa Saturday, October 29th at 2:00.
 
Those teams already met in Week 4, the Clippers won 22-6.

 

The Western Canada Under 16 Challenge Cup starts today in Calgary and a couple of Dauphinites are there.

Devin Himpe is a video coach with Team Manitoba, and Parkland Ranger, and recent WHL draftee, Mark Liwiski will represent Team Manitoba on the ice wearing an 'A'.

The tournament starts at 4:00pm when Manitoba plays Team BC. Later tonight Saskatchewan takes on Team Alberta, last year's champs.

 

Two Parklanders and a Yorktonite attending the World Hockey Under-17 Challenge have been split up.
 
Team Canada has divided it's 66 players into three rosters.
 
Grandview's Koby Morrisseau will suit up for Team Canada White, Foxwarren's Dawson Barteaux is playing D for Team Canada Red, and Brett Kemp of Yorkton will don the black for Team Canada.
 
The pre-tournament starts next Thursday, October 27th in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. 

 

Another game the Kings hope to put in the rear view mirror.

The Wayway Wolverines defeated the Kings 6-3 Tuesday.

The Kings are still in search of their first road win this season, and have the rest of the month to do so, they don't return to Credit Union Place until November 4th.

The Kings are next in action this weekend for a double-header in Steinbach. Both games can be heard on CKDM. 

 

The Dauphin Kings are on the road against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines tonight. 

The Wolverines have yet to find their first win of the season off to a 0-9 start.

This is the first of five games on the road for the Kings as they finish the month away from Credit Union Place, returning on Friday, November 4th to host the Winkler Flyers. 

Game time at the Waywayseecappo Wolverines Complex is 7:30.

 

Swan River and Dauphin are in need of referees for the upcoming hockey season. Swan will host a beginners Level 1 and 2 clinic this Saturday.

Dauphin will host a Level 1 and 2 Clinic November 5th, while Russell hosts one November 6th.  A Level 3 Referee Seminar will be offered in Dauphin November 6th as well

Refereeing is a great way to be active within your hockey community, keep fit, and make some extra money.

The Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame is set to announce it's newest inductees at an upcoming media conference.

Next Monday, October 24th the Hall of Fame will have two separate press conferences at 11:00am. One will be held in Winnipeg, the other in Brandon at the Trails West Inn.

Some local teams could be amoung the inductees to be honoured next summer. 

The Dauphin Clippers have clinched first place in the Rural Manitoba Football League and will have home-field advantage for the playoffs.
