Dauphin's Lisa Hale-Menard and Ray Baker will spend the next few days overseas fresh off qualifying for the playoffs in a World Curling Tour Mixed Doubles event in Geising, Germany over the weekend.

"It was an interesting weekend," said Baker. "We had moments when we played pretty well, and then some moments when it looked like we forgot how to play the game. The ice got the better of us. Conditions were okay, but they were pretty unpredictable for the most part."

One of the reasons the duo headed overseas was to get points for the Canadian Mixed Doubles Trials in early 2018.

"We're kind of on the bubble," said Baker. "If we had more success, our odds would have been better, but right now, I can't tell you if we're in or out."

When Baker and Hale-Menard return, Ray will be focusing more on the team game in senior, while Hale-Menard will continue her ladies team season.
