Brayden Tomchuk of Dauphin has been named as one of the players that will head to Calgary to take part in the u18 Canadian Rugby Championships.

Tomchuk was named to the Prairie Blizzard team, which is an All-Star team comprised of athletes from Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.

“At the high school level, he was their best player,” said Sean Erickson. “He’s got a big body, and he runs the ball very hard and is very physical. He’s played at a very elite level at the high school, regional, and the provincial level.”

Tomchuk and the rest of the Blizzard are joined by British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, Newfoundland, the Keltics, and Ontario.

When asked what he will bring to the team, Erickson had this to say.

“I think the physicality he will bring is huge, he’s not one of the fastest players out there, but he makes up for it in physicality,” said Erickson. “At this level, you have to give it your all, and when Brayden walks on to the field, you sort of get that sense that he will do whatever he has to do, to help the team.

The Blizzard kick off their CRC on August 15.
