Cole Sheffield was the Cole Sheffield Dauphin Kings fans have come to love, Ashton Paul was the hero and the Dauphin Kings are off and running.

Playing their first game of the MJHL regular season, Dauphin did not score until the third period but scored three times in the final frame as they skated off with a 3-0 win over the Virden Oil Capitals.

Sheffield finished the night with 37 saves in the victory, his first of the season after winning 28 games last year.

Dauphin scored the first goal of the game 5:28 into the third when Ashton Paul snuck behind an Oil Capital defender and went five-hole and then less than six minutes later, Jack Bechard scored his first goal as a King.

Aiden Murray, from long distance, then capped off the game with an empty net goal late.

The Kings (1-0) will now welcome Virden (0-1) to Credit Union Place on Saturday night.
