This season has been a game-changer for Conor Geekie in the Western Hockey League, and now he's gearing up to play a crucial role in helping his country snag a gold medal at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.

Hailing from Strathclair, Geekie earned a coveted spot on the Canadian men's roster following an eventful selection camp that wrapped up with a 6-1 defeat against an all-star team comprising USports players.

Among the 12 forwards on the team, Geekie is sharing the spotlight with standout Nate Danielson, currently making waves with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Joining them are Matthew Savoie, Geekie's teammate in Wenatchee, and Macklin Celebrini, among others.

The Canadian squad is set to embark on an overseas adventure as they gear up for the World Juniors, kicking off on Boxing Day in Gothenburg, Sweden. Canada's title defense begins on December 26 at 7:30 a.m. in a showdown against Team Finland.

Geekie's journey into the roster was practically a shoe-in, especially after his recent show-stopping feat of scoring four consecutive goals in a spectacular Wenatchee comeback. This season, the Arizona Coyotes' first-overall draft pick boasts an impressive tally of 20 goals and 29 assists.

Despite missing the next month due to Team Canada commitments, Geekie is poised to surpass last year's 77-point performance, contributing significantly to one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
