Jared Ladobruk, the Executive Director of Golf Manitoba said it's a wait and see type of thing right now when it comes to the starting of the 2020 golf season. When it comes to golf in the Parkland, the Swan River Golf and Country Club are under the same approach.

Golf isn't an essential service and until the public health order that closed all essential services is lifted, no golf will take place in the province.

Clinton Weir is the Manager/CPGA Professional at the Swan River Golf and Country Club and he had this to say on his approach to beginning the 2020 season.

"We have to follow the guidelines, it's pretty simple," said Weir. "Our hands are tied right now, there's not much we can do."

Golf courses; however, have been given the go-ahead to maintain their facilities which means they are still able to water, seed, and everything else that it takes to keep the course in good condition. That course maintaining may have to start without any income coming in and the biggest question everyone has right now is, when will the time to golf come?

"We won't be doing as much maintenance as you would do in the normal season," continued Weir. "With that said, we have to maintain the greens, the fairways, and the rough. It'll be a smaller crew for sure, but we will continue to maintain our facility."

Weir added that he's not sure what they're going to do when it comes to perhaps having no income and he also knows courses around the province are in the same situation. He does; however, know that when the golf season does begin, the Swan River Golf and Country Club will be good to go.

"Our grounds will be ready as soon as we get the go-ahead," he continued. "If there's a bright side, we're still about a month away from any golf happening anyway."

If you've already purchased a membership at the club, you'll only be charged a pro-rated fee if the season is shorter than normal.

"We'll charge people on a month-by-month basis if we miss any time due to COVID-19," concluded Weir.
