Luke Davidson played in the past two junior provincial curling championships. Both of those events were outside of Dauphin. Beginning on Wednesday, Luke will play in his third straight provincial championship, but this time, he's not going anywhere.
Davidson will play skip as the Telus U21 Provincial Curling Championships take over Credit Union Place and the Dauphin Curling Club. Davidson from Dauphin is joined by Winnipegosis', Osten Sahulka, Eric Prokopowich, and Brett Rowe, who are both from Dauphin.
"I'm really excited to play in this event and I know our entire team is really excited," said Davidson. "It's also great that it's right here at home. A ton of our family and friends will be able to watch us so that's definitely really special. It's going to be quite the event."
The all Parkland foursome just started playing together this season. With all four players being from the same area, they were friends prior to joining forces out on the ice this season which means the team was able to create instant chemistry.
The task ahead of them this week won't be an easy one, however, as they'll begin a quick seven-game round-robin on Wednesday afternoon at 12:15.
They will play the afternoon and evening draws for the first two days before they switch to a morning and afternoon draw for the second-last day of round-robin play and their final round-robin game is on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
"Now that we've played a ton of games together throughout the season, we've really improved," continued Davidson. "We're a young team, but we're confident in our abilities and we're really excited to get things going."
"We'll go out and give it our best and we'll see what happens," he concluded.
You can get your week pass to watch Davidson and the rest of his team by heading to the Parkland Rec Complex front desk and a pass is just $50. Stay tuned as Darnell chats with another Parklander that is getting set to play in the event.
