Russell’s Keaton Ziprick got his first career MJHL regular season win and the Dauphin Kings won a thriller in Waywayseecappo.

Hugo Laflamme scored the overtime winner as Dauphin won 6-5 in overtime tonight. 

To start the game it was all Dauphin.

5:06 in, Laflamme scored his first MJHL goal with Baron Thompson and Nakodan Greyeyes getting the assists.

Just 1:25 later, Avery Smith made it 2-0 and Dauphin kept on coming. At the 12:47 mark, Ty Brant and Nakodan Greyeyes set up Grady Hobbs as he made it 3-0.

With four minutes left, the Wolverines comeback started. Rayman Bassi brought the game within two.

With a 3-1 lead midway through the second, Matthias Smith left the game and Keaton Ziprick came in. 

Within three minutes, Gerrik Ripley, Anthony Bilka, and Nick Doyle would score to give Wayway a 4-3 lead.

22 seconds into the third, it was Dauphin’s turn. That’s when Grady Hobbs scored his second of the season and Baron Thompson scored four minutes later to give Dauphin a 5-4 lead.

At the 5:17 mark, Conrad Phillips tied the game and it eventually went to overtime. 

In overtime, Laflamme beat Thompson Phinney on the blocker side to give Dauphin a 6-5 win.

Dauphin looks to make it three straight on Saturday against Neepawa.
