GLEN CAMPBELL'S CHILDREN FIGHT OVER WIFE'S CONTROL OVER HIS CARE

Glen Campbell's two oldest children want someone besides his wife to make medical and financial decisions for him. Debby Campbell-Cloyd and Travis Campbell are asking a judge to appoint conservators and a guardian to protect Campbell's interests.

They say in a petition filed in Nashville in January that Campbell's wife, Kim, is keeping their father secluded from the rest of the family and won't let them help with his care. The petition was filed under seal but a copy was sent to The Associated Press. Kim Campbell's attorney refused to comment because of the seal. Glen Campbell is in the late stages of Alzheimer's disease and lives at a long-term care facility.

PHARRELL TELLS JURY HE DIDN'T COPY MARVIN GAYE IN 'BLURRED LINES'

Pharrell Williams says he wasn't trying to copy the late Marvin Gaye's music for ``Blurred Lines.'' But Williams says he was going for the feeling of late 1970s tunes.

Williams is being sued by Gaye's children, who claim ``Blurred Lines'' copies their father's hit ``Got to Give it Up.'' Robin Thicke and rapper T.I. are also defendants in the case. Yesterday, Williams told a jury in federal court in Los Angeles that he grew up listening to Gaye's music. Williams says he didn't discuss ``Got to Give it Up'' with Thicke before crafting the song in mid-2012.

``Blurred Lines'' was 2013's biggest hit and earned more than 16-million dollars in profits.

MARKY RAMONE PREPARES HIS OWN BEER

Drummer Marky Ramone of The Ramones is planning his own beer line. He's a recovering alcoholic. Ramone says that may sound ``surreal,'' but just because he's an alcoholic doesn't mean he can't create a great-tasting beer. He does what wine-tasters do: he swirls it in his mouth and spits it out. He says if he swallows, he breaks his sobriety. Ramone plans to donate the proceeds from the sale of the beer to charity. In the meantime, he's just published his autobiography, ``Punk Rock Blitzkrieg.''

BUDDY HOLLY PLANE CRASH CASE COULD BE REOPENED

The National Transportation Safety Board could take another look at the February 1959 plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. An N-T-S-B spokesman confirms to Billboard magazine it is reviewing a petition to reopen the investigation. That review could take several months. New England pilot L-J Coon submitted the petition, saying flight data involving the plane's rate of ascent, weight and balance could point out factors in the crash. That could clear the name of pilot Roger Peterson, who was also killed in the crash. The now-defunct Civil Aeronautics Board blamed the crash on pilot error, with snow as a secondary cause.

'AMERICAN IDOL'-ARETHA

``American Idol'' enlisted some Detroit star power to open last night's show. The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, did ``I Will Survive'' before the Top 8 guys performed. Franklin was also a mentor to the contestants. The Top 12 guys started the show.

As each of the Top 8 was named, he got to perform for this week's vote. The last to make it was Quentin Alexander, who says he was getting plenty nervous as the clock ticked down. Tonight, the Top 8 ladies take the Idol stage.
