Starting next week students will be able to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at school-based clinics.
The clinics will be offered during school hours, and in some cases, they will operate outside of school hours for all members of the community.
Dr. Joss Reimer, Medical Lead for the Vaccine Implementation Task Force says a few clinics will launch on Wednesday the 22nd.
"Parents and the school community will be notified when a clinic is coming to their school. We're sending letters out today to help give a bit more information about what the process will look like."
School clinics are set to run for four to six weeks.

On September 11th at approximately 7:30 p.m., Lundar RCMP received a report of a motorcycle that had gone off the road on Highway 6 in the RM of West Interlake, approximately 200 kilometres southeast of Dauphin.
When officers arrived, a male was in the ditch receiving medical attention from EMS. The 62-year-old male from the RM of Coldwell was pronounced deceased on scene.
Initial investigation has determined that the motorcycle, being driven by the 62-year-old male, was travelling southbound on Highway 6, near Lundar, and passed a southbound vehicle. The motorcycle appeared to lose control and entered the ditch, at which point the male driver was ejected from the vehicle.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist and the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigative Team is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

A boil water advisory is in place in parts of the RM of Elton, which is north of Brandon.
This is due to repairs to a water line, which has led to the loss of water pressure in part of the RM, between roads 96 west to 107 west, and roads 60 north to 65 north.
Until further notice, all water used for consumption should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute.

Those who would like to vote early have until 9:00 tonight.
Voters can find their advance polling station on their voter information card that they received in the mail, or online.
There is also some time left to apply to vote by mail.
Voters can apply online or contact any Elections Canada office across Canada before Tuesday, September 14th at 6:00 p.m. to vote by mail.
Election Day is on Monday, September 20th.

Today starts off Smile Cookie week at Tim Hortons.
All proceeds raised in Dauphin are going towards the Dauphin Friendship Centre, and the Parkland Humane Society.
The Humane Society is using the money raised for their Spay and Neuter Program, and the Friendship Centre is using the money for their Food for Thought Program.

On Saturday Brandon Flight Centre held a well-attended grand opening for the Dauphin Flight Training Centre.
There was a constant stream of people coming to take flights over the city.
CEO of Brandon Flight Centre, David Creighton says he wasn’t expecting to have so many people attend the event.
“We had no idea coming into it if we were going to see 20 people or 200 people. So to see this many people coming through the door to help us celebrate it and to get a taste for flying, it’s fantastic.”
Finance Manager, Samantha Friesen says she heard a lot of interest in the school from people attending the event.
“I’ve heard from several people who were taking their first flight who were like ‘I’m coming back for lessons’ so we’re really excited for that.”
Creighton says that there’s no set date for students to begin, and they can start their flight training any time.
“We have one instructor here right now teaching three days a week, but we’re set up so that if he needs to be here full-time or if we need another instructor and a second aircraft we’re all ready to go with that. Basically, whatever demand is here for it we can easily meet it.”
There was also a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a BBQ, and a silent auction at the grand opening.

COVID-19 vaccine walk-ins are taking place at Dauphin’s Supersite from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Pfizer and Moderna are being offered.
The supersite is located at 304 Whitmore Avenue east.

Today is the 20th anniversary of the deadliest terror attacks on U.S. soil.
Premier Kelvin Goertzen made a statement on the commemoration.
“Today, we mark the 20th anniversary of the tragic and horrific events that took place in the United States on September 11, 2001, the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in U.S. history.”
Manitoba's 23rd Premier carried on to talk about his plans for the day,
“This morning, I am pleased to join representatives from both The United States and Canada at a ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial Site at the International Peace Gardens to honour the lives tragically lost, commemorate our long-standing positive relationship between our nations, and reaffirm our commitment of international cooperation and peace.”
Premier Goertzen offered his sympathies,
“On behalf of all Members of the Manitoba Legislature and all Manitobans, I offer my sincere condolences to those who lost loved ones, those who survived and still struggle, and those whose lives have been forever changed.”
Goertzen says the day is one to honour the bravery, sacrifice and heroism of first responders and military personal then and today, and the compassion of everyday people to help their neighbour in times of great need.
Nearly 3,000 lives were lost, including 24 Canadians in the attacks.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress is trying to encourage Ukrainians in the community to get vaccinated, by holding a virtual town hall.
Irka Mendela, Liaison for the Ukrainian Canadian Congress says they’re being supported by the province to try to reach out to some senior citizens, and younger families who are reluctant to get the vaccine.
“Who will be present is an epidemiologist of Ukrainian descent, several family physicians of Ukrainian descent - possibly one even who will speak from Ukraine, and Clergy from Ukrainian Catholic churches.”
Irka says that a myth the congress has heard is that women can become sterile from the vaccine.
“That’s where the family physicians would come in, and explain how this wouldn’t happen and can’t happen, based on science.”
The town Hall is taking place on Sunday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m.

The RCMP has arrested two men after the seizure of firearms and drugs following a traffic stop in Fisher River Cree Nation.
Officers pulled over a suspicious car travelling south on Highway 224.
RCMP then seized a sawed-off shotgun, a loaded 9mm handgun and prepackaged individual baggies of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Jordan Govereau, 19, from Fisher River Cree Nation, was arrested and charged with multiple offences, including careless use of a firearm x2, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose x2, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
Govereau was also issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for driving without a valid driver’s licence.
He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on October 5th in Peguis First Nation.
Jerome Moore, 20, from Fisher River Cree Nation, was arrested and charged with numerous offences, including careless use of a firearm x2, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose x2, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
He remains in custody.
The RCMP continues to investigate.

This morning, Dauphin’s Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention Committee hosted a community walk for World Suicide Prevention Day.
Committee member, Eleanor Snitka says that of all the events they have done, a walk was the right choice for this year:
"We've done different activities over the years, but I think I really like the idea for a walk for this year."
Everyone who came to the event received an orange ribbon, information cards about self-care and mental health, as well as a candle:
"Everyone across the world is encouraged to light a candle in their window tonight at eight o'clock to remember somebody or in honour of somebody who's struggling or who has lost someone."
The walk concluded with hot dogs provided by the Dauphin HERO Club at the United Church.
